Miracle on the Hudson — US Airways Flight 1549

Two minutes after lifting off from LaGuardia, Flight 1549 flew into a flock of geese and both engines went silent; Captain Sullenberger's transmission came back clipped and flat: "We're gonna be in the Hudson." Two hundred and eight seconds later the Airbus touched the river — the first ferries reached it within four minutes, and all one hundred fifty-five aboard came out alive.
